Warner Music sues Imeem (Warner Music sues Imeem)  Warner Music sues Imeem

MP3 & Audio
As reported by Reuters on Tuesday evening, Warner Music Group Corp. has sued Imeem for copyright infringement pertaining to the use of its music (which includes Green Day, Madonna, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers). Imeem is a social media site that allows its members to share photos, videos, and music; connect with other members who have similar preferences; and embed Imeem widgets in blogs and other social networking sites.

The suit, filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, claims that "Imeem is no innocent infringer. It invites Imeem's millions of users to flock to its website to copy, adapt, distribute and perform unlicensed sound recordings and music videos." A statement from Imeem was not yet available.

The Palo Alto, Calif.-based Imeem, which boasts 16 million users, has already seen its embeddable widgets banned from social networking site MySpace as a result of copyright holders' concerns.
