xStarter is short of being a digital miracle. This utility has the power of scheduling and automating virtually any computer-related task. When used correctly, it can take up to 50% workload off any IT specialist. The program is primarily used to automate a long list of routine tasks like copying, renaming, moving, deleting, or synchronizing files; checking e-mail (including multiple accounts); compressing or creating backups; launching and terminating applications and NT services; executing macros and shortcuts; rebooting, shutting down, ejecting and closing DVD/CD-ROMs; logging off, clearing memory, establishing RAS connection and much more.

Another rich set of automation features xStarter offers works with HTTP and FTP protocol and includes checking connection (PING) uploading and downloading data, opening browsers, visiting websites, checking and sending emails and files, working with messages (local network or ICQ). The program can entirely automate the process of updating a website. All a webmaster has to do is to copy file to a certain folder and the program will do the rest.

The real value of xStarter is that it needs to be set up only once. Most folks don't even realize how much time is taken up by their routine. For example, automating work with e-mail and network messages can save up to half an hour each day! Web masters that have to upload and download files routinely can completely free themselves form this boring and time-consuming task. Another advantage of xStarter is its convenient built-in text file comparison tool and window manipulation toolkit that allows closing, focusing, hiding/unhiding, maximizing/minimizing/restoring, or tiling windows.

The program is rather difficult for inexperienced PC users but quite straightforward and easy to learn for any PC-proficient person. It also works best when a user creates multiple "scenarios" each of which can be activated, when necessary. In addition to scheduling tasks, there is a wide array of triggers available, like pressing hotkeys, exceeding specified idle time, modifying files or folders, NT log event and others.
