Making your storage all right makes your mind all right.

Sometimes I’m going out of my mind with the mess in my PC storage – hard drive. I think that everybody of us who uses a computer hardly for a long time encounters a problem of disorder in great amount of stored files. It takes place especially when we have deal with a lot of information and a plenty of multimedia, when we surf the Internet and download frequent. So copies of files may appear. Than we realize that free space on our hard drive decreases. In such cases it is necessary to use software, which looks for duplicates and allows user to manage them.

Among variety of such utilities NoClone appears to be really effective in my opinion. That application made me want to smile when it arranged all of my files to the stark order! NoClone did that tedious work instead me in the time, which I could never fit in.

Purposes of the NoClone.
So this compact software is specially designed for searching the hard drive for duplicate files and removing them. The matter is that NoClone can do with that files everything you can imagine and even what you can’t.

What it can do?
NoClone searches copies and compares it by basic criteria such as:
File content (it is about the files with absolutely same byte sequence – genuine duplicates).
File name (the files may have same names but be different in content).
Portion files (the files which are partially identical – it may occur during an interrupted download).
Zero-files (the files without any content, for example, not used temporary files).

The difference is that it searches files taking into account not only checksum like many others but internal byte structure of the file (byte by byte). And if needed NoClone even applies Fuzzy Matching option to find similar files with little difference usually arising in code because of transmission errors.

One more remarkable feature of the application is that it can compare files in separate storages such as CD-ROM and hard drive. You can run it in the Scope tab.

Also NoClone easily prompts you what files should be deleted by Smart Marker feature. For example, the program found thousands of duplicated files. Of course, you have no possibility and patience to read all report and manually check which one should be deleted. And there is no reason to do that, because Smart Marker does it excellent. Just define marking criteria (By Date, By Size, By Version, By Pattern, Leave At Least One, Keep Oldest or Newest Files etc.) and NoClone will sort needed files and will offer you to delete copies or move ones to another folder.
Besides, the software can save current search session to continue it later and can exports result list to the CSV format (you can open it with Microsoft Excel).

Easy-going interface.
The software possesses well thought-out interface. The main point of it is that all function buttons are comfortable spread by the groups over the main window and user can easily see everything he able to do. It consists of three areas, every of which defines steps the user needs to take to get his goal.

The first is the paths selecting box. You can define here folders you would like to check for duplicates and some additional options (there are file type, size or date, sub-folder and Exclude ticking boxes). Also there is a Scope tab where you may ask NoClone to compare files in different storages e.g. CD-R and Hard Drive or in different folders.

The second area describes search options: search by Zero-size, Duplicates, Same file name and Portions. There are also Simple Fuzzy Match, Protect System Folder (if you don’t want to harm your operation system), Hidden Folders and Files and Show File Version (for *.exe and *.dll files) switchers. And the big button here is the main one. It’s a Search button!

At last the third area presents to you the Search results. This window has many columns and tabs which help you to sort and manage files. On the right there is not big preview box which shows you pictures you have selected in the Search results window. It is useful feature because you compare images using your eyes directly in the NoClone without loading associated viewer. So you can easily decide which one should be deleted. There is one more important button – Task. The Task button opens submenu with almost all available commands for working with copies in the Search result window.

In general, feel free to ask the Help file, because you can find there any explanation of any function and way to act. NoClone’s Help is more than detailed.

By the way…
Ok, using NoClone I found about 300 duplicate files on my local disk D. A part of that amount was mp3 and others were the different types. So I have relieved about 120 Mb of memory by couple of clicks using this amazing program. It makes me smile!
