Instant messaging technology proved to be one of the most popular and productive Internet inventions. With sixty million people using IM (instant messaging) daily, corporations started to use this tool as well. Naturally, due to security issues and abundance viruses, enterprise solutions are corporate network bound. To this day, there are over 50 enterprise IM solutions (sometimes called LAN chat or LAN messaging) available on the market. PopMessenger is NOT just another one of them.
The difference between PopMessenger and all other solutions may not seem big at first. But when tried and compared, people come to conclusion that distinction between them is akin to that of a regular phone and a mobile one. First, PopMessenger keeps a history of all messages, so they can be found, when needed. Second, the program offers both public and private LAN messaging capabilities. The program encrypts all messages, so they can't be intercepted, hijacked or spoofed. Importantly, PopMessenger allows file sharing and LAN chatting only inside the company network. Finally, PopMessenger support offline message sending. This feature is incredibly helpful, yet absent in most LAN messaging solutions. When a person is not logged onto the corporate network (for example, a person went to launch and turned off his or her PC), these programs refuse to send a LAN message. PopMessenger stores all LAN messages and delivers them when a person logs back on, much like an e-mail. Finally, setting up user groups, automatic answers, alarms, message properties (color and font) is extremely easy with PopMessenger. Here is what one of PopMessenger buyers said: "PopMessenger is without a doubt the best program of its type I've ever seen. I tested probably 15 different ones over the last 6 months looking for something that was absolutely user friendly in every way, especially for users that are not computer literate, and nothing even came close. I really love this program, and no slander intended against women at all, I am one, but when I was running it in testing, I wondered if your programmer had ever worked in an office full of women (I have, 40 in one dept), because it does away with any questions on 'how to's', or complaints of 'don't understand's. This is the only program I've ever installed on any of the three networks that I didn't have to teach anybody how to use it." In independent tests, PopMessenger did beat corporate IM solutions by IBM, Microsoft and AOL repeatedly. Ester Shein in her "Will IM Pay?" for the May issue of CFO article speculates that by year 2007 there will be 182 millions business IM accounts. Chances are a large chunk of them will be made of happy PopMessenger users.
