Over time, the contents of files and folders become more of a mystery. Row upon row of the same little yellow folder, and inside, the same little Word icon attached to each file. Sure, they have titles, but what was the purpose of creating each document? Was it business or social, a rough draft or something you want to keep forever? Wouldn't it be helpful if the icon told the story of a folder or file's content? IconChanger provides the simple tool to assign specialty icons to any file, to label it as part of a special group, to remind you of its purpose and importance, and give instant visual identification of that file's contents.
IconChanger functions by scanning a user's system for icons, extracting them from all sources, including .exe and .dll files, cursor and bitmap files. The program creates a catalog of icons from which users can choose to replace the standard icon associated with a particular file. Favorites can be dragged and dropped into a
quickly-accessible list. Even desktop and shortcut icons can be replaced for customizing desktop appearance, and IconChanger will save their positions if desktop themes or resolution are changed.
With the release of version 3.4, ShellLabs has designed IconChanger to skip duplicate icons during the search and automatically save the list of icons found, and the icons for executable files such as .exe., .dll, .cpl, .ocx and .scr can now be changed.
