The other day I was installing Windows XP operating system onto my computer, and after the installation process was completed I got connected to the internet to download all the updates for the system. And guess what happened - before Microsoft Windows Updates site was opened, viruses attacked my system and loaded my computer.
To download Windows Updates you have to use the internet and at the same time the internet brought viruses into my system what can be done in such a situation? The problem was solved with the help of Agnitum OutPost Firewall solution. Having installed Agnitum OutPost Firewall, you should set Rules Wizard mode. As for me, I use this mode permanently. When in this mode Agnitum OutPost Firewall would ask your permission every time your computer attempts to connect to any other computer in the internet. When you send your mail or use your messanger (icq, msn, aol) or get connected to a FTP - every time Agnitum OutPost Firewall will ask your permission. You can set a separate rule for every application. In General setting you can edit your Trusted Applications list by adding the applications that are absolutely trustually, you can also use Agnitum OutPost Firewall as spyware detector. For example, it was only Agnitum OutPost Firewall that helped me find out that Macromedia Flash MX was scanning something in the local area network. The purpose of scanning - as I see it - is to find users with one the same license, but anyway the scanning is not permitted by the user, so Macromedia Flash MX can be heated as spyware (in my opinion). Agnitum OutPost Firewall can help you get rid of annoing banner ads (though you can choose to watch it). The program has quite good banner and content filters. In case you have a little child, you can protect him not letting him watch excesive content (adult, xxx, porno sites). All in all, you can call Agnitum OutPost Firewall your personal computer's guardian or netwatch. Related Links:
