An average computer has twenty to fifty thousand files stored on a hard-drive.
And these are the machines of regular folks, not the pros - they may beat that number tenfold. The total number of files stored in computers interconnected to create a Local Area Network may be impossible to count. So what should one do, when he or she needs to find a certain file very fast, but does not remember the exact file name? Get SearchGun, of course. SearchGun is a simple, yet very clever utility for searching files in computers, external drives, floppies, CDs, any other types of storage media as well as over LANs. The main advantage of the software over the competing titles is that it employs smart scoring system that makes it possible to quickly and accurately find any file even when the user does not remember its correct spelling. Another advantage is that the program can search the contents of the file, including "compressed files" and show you matches without "unzipping" files. This feature is currently available for txt, html, rtf, doc, xls, pdf, hlp, mp3, wma, acc, zip, rar documents. Importantly, using the program is very easy. SearchGun file search syntax rules resemble that of any Internet search engine. The program comes with very flexible search filters and settings that makes file searching a snap even in large LANs. And the program support multithread search as well as works under any win32 platform. That is why the program received top awards at The File Transit, BrotherSoft, Sofotex and ShareUp.com, to name a few. Related Links:
