Sometimes it is needed to print documents containing various types of data such as text, different formats of images, charts, vector graphics or bar codes. Usually that data is provided by several applications and there is a special solution to incorporating it together.

IPDS (Intelligent Printer Data Stream) was created to maintain AFP (Advanced Function Printing), which used by SAA (Systems Application Architecture) developed by IBM. This protocol is used by many systems, for example, mainframe and AS/400. Just for instance, traditional applying of the AS/400 is oil and gas industry, banking and transport branches and so on.

So, advanced printing requires costly printing equipment.

It may be no idea how to print a document incorporating such distinctive formats in high quality without high-end printing devices supporting IPDS.

What is ExcelliPrint for?
ExcelliPrint is software, which allows user to solve a problem of advanced printing without purchasing of expensive printing staff.

This application uses device-independent AFP and is able to convert such specific formats as AFP (IPDS &AFPDS) and SCS to variety of widespread file formats including universal PDF format. Besides, it possesses print-to-file archiving function. These are only little part of all ExcelliPrint functions.

Interface
User interface is designed to be displayed in the window of any browser used in any working conditions. It is quite simple and friendly. This web interface contains various tabs that operate the most frequently used commands or views. The main page of the application presents only seven tabs: Home, Devices, Ports, AS/400, Log, Help and Login/Logout. Some of them opens submenu.

The Home tab describes general information about the program, its version, license, etc.
The Devices tab lets user know the information about currently used devices and also allows add or delete them.
The Ports tab is for a management of the ports – adding, modifying or deleting them and viewing related info.
The AS/400 tab allows logging in to an AS/400 remotely and working with IPDS devices – creating new of them, viewing their properties or viewing current print jobs.
The Log tab displays the history of what has taken place during the time of login.
The Help tab has similar with other software functions including online FAQ and changing login password feature.
The Login/Logout tab provides a field for logging in and out.

Furthermore, there is a Customizing the User Interface function.

Main features:

  • ExcelliPrint’s supporting for various formats of the IPDS architecture makes you easy to use all values of IBM’s AFP bringing it to your Windows environment.

  • Driver-independent technology prints directly to ANY Windows-based printer.

  • Converting AFP and SCS to widely used PDF and other formats including PCL.

  • The ability of saving of converted IPDS output to a network storage unit by the Print-to-file archiving technology.

  • Multiple ports listening for print requests and as a result, user can consolidate multiple IPDS printers without server-side modifications.

  • Supporting for two output devices, such as printer or a folder which can be local or remote.

  • The application runs as a Windows service and receives print jobs without requiring a Windows user to be logged in to the computer where ExcelliPrint is running.

  • Platform-independent browser-based interface allows simple administration from any authorized computer.

  • Secure Web interface supports SSL and role-based administration. Web server which is used in ExcelliPrint supports SSL and doesn’t require Apache or IIS to be installed.

  • The possibility of management of IBM iSeries devices or redirecting existing devices using the browser-based interface.

So, you see that ExcelliPrint substitutes expensive printing equipment for ordinary one and allows you to get high-end quality printing.
