Today, MP3 and WMA are the dominant music formats. Digital technologies have become an indispensable part of our life. More people listen to music using MP3 players than ever before. Desktop computers, supported by modern operating systems, are also perfect for playing music. Music files can store additional information about the music in what's called "tags", such as artist names, song names and album titles. Quite often, many files lack this information and have generic filenames, like track01.mp3, track02.mp3, etc. This is why it is often difficult to find out what is playing at the moment, or to find a track on your hard disk. MP3 players can also display tags, but this feature is often neglected.

mp3Tag 4.3 is a music tag editor with extensive features. It can not only automatically find track descriptions on the Internet, but it can also download lyrics and album covers. This job is fully automatic, no typing is required! To provide this service, mp3Tag utilizes our own know-how along with information in the largest databases of Audio CD's FreeDB and Amazon.com servers. Best of all, in order to get track descriptions (e.g. album title, artist or band name and track titles) from a FreeDB, one does not even need the original Audio CD. mp3Tag takes the length of a music file, emulates a compact disk header, and compares this data with all the CDs available in the database and that's it. If it fails to find the necessary information, but the name of the album is known, downloading data from Amazon.com will help. In just a few minutes, your music tracks will contain (in addition to the sound itself) color album covers, lyrics and descriptions.

Additionally, mp3Tag supports batch processing of mp3 file tags, allowing you to simply change the values (for example, year and genre) for a group of files in one operation. With just a few mouse clicks, you can create a playlist or export text information to a file. Renaming files and folders can be done either in accordance with tag fields or using templates. The reverse operation (generating tags according to the names of files and folders) is also possible.

The development of mp3Tag started in 2000. Since then, it has won dozens of prestigious awards and has attained a loyal following. Its superb interface has been translated into every European language.
