A well-designed tool that is easy to use and does the job you ask of it with a minimum of fuss and effort is a good thing, and these days, sadly, it is becoming a rare thing. The mark of well-engineered software is that users should be able to obtain reasonable results from it without having to have years of education or some guy from the IT department hovering nearby to bail them out. Simplicity, logic and results are what Effective File Search 3.5 is all about.
Where 95% of non-Microsoft products do not support native context menus for searching files and folders, Effective File Search 3.5 now supports them for all selected files, making it a versatile replacement for Windows Search. Effective File Search promises all the functions of Windows Explorer, but with more flexible search filters and options for managing the results of a search. Users can search for files containing specific text, hexadecimal codes or by date or size, or use Boolean operators to search by keywords. Once a search is complete, the program's file management functions support export of files, or the performance of any Windows command for selected files. The administration features enable automation of file search and management routines, all with a clear and precise interface.
One of the new features in v3.5 is the 'silent installer', very handy for installing the software on multiple computers. No user intervention is required when running EFS setup with the /S parameter. Four or five seconds is all it takes to get started.
