The urgent need to protect dynamic information is becoming more and more obvious these days. “Dynamic information” is the kind of information you regularly and actively use. You must have already heard about crypted virtual drives. In fact, “crypted virtual drive” is a crypted file stored on your hard drive. You may map this file as a drive to any drive letter.
For instance, if you map “crypted virtual drive” to drive X:, you may install there all your private programs, if you set the installation path to “X:ProgramName”. We suggest installing all the programs concerning your private correspondence and your business to a crypted drive. Store there everything you wouldn’t like anyone to ever view. When you use a virtual crypted drive you can be absolutely sure that no one but you can get access to your information. The crypting algorithms used in such programs proved to be hack-resistant so far. So what makes users pick one program out of a variety of programs of this kind? Why do they prefer this or that tool? A lot of people don’t spend much time thinking which program is better and purchase the first satisfying their needs program they come upon. Today we’ll take a look at two virtual drive managers: Dekart Private Disk 2.03 and CryptoExpert 2004 Pro. Both Dekart Private Disk 2.03 and CryptoExpert 2004 Pro paid enough attention to proper usability. Both programs provide main features necessary to handle crypted virtual drives:
Despite the fact that both programs provide nearly equal amount of necessary features, Dekart Private Disk anyway is leading according to principal characteristic. Here they are: 1. Dekart company cared enough to make the process of virtual drive file managing as convenient as possible. Dekart Private Disk associates crypted drive-files with the program, so you can mount the drive by simply clicking on a drive-file (*.dpd). CryptoExpert 2004 Pro doesn’t associate drive-files this way, so you can’t install a drive with a mere mouse-click. 2. When in “Idle” state, Dekart Private Disk hardly uses CPU resources even when virtual drives are installed (though very rarely less then 1 per sent of CPU is utilized). CryptoExpert 2004 Pro uses 2 per cent of CPU resources even when not in use. 3. Dekart Private Disk occupies less than 1 Mbyte of RAM. In its turn, CryptoExpert 2004 Pro eats up to more than 10 Mbytes for purposes no one is aware of. 4. Shutting down the computer with Dekart Private Disk installed is as safe and fast as without the program installed. In case CryptoExpert 2004 Pro is installed you have to wait for more than one minute before shutdown process can be started. 5. Dekart company supplied Dekart Private Disk with very convenient interface featuring unique graphics elements. CryptoExpert 2004 Pro uses graphics resources taken right from Windows, some of them even unedited. Taking into account all pro and contra, anyone can estimate and pick a program to manage his crypted virtual drives. Evaluate the advantages of the programs and make your choice. Let safe work attend you! Related Links:
