How to control activities of the network users if you are a system administrator, especially if it concerns Internet surfing? Believe, sometimes it is absolutely necessary. What if you have got a network with several hundreds or more of users? So it could be really hard to imagine how to do it without special good software.
A “perfect” monitor system Have you ever imagined what do you precisely want such software can do? Lets try to do it for a wile what features should possess “an ideal” network administrating monitor system. What should it do you think? Well, it would be good if a program, first of all, will control all the users of a network without exception; in the second place it would be desirable to monitor user’s network activity, in particular, Internet-activity. And, of course, approve or prohibit if needed some hosts, IPs, web-pages or some sort of activities for all users at ones or for someone individually. Also it would be highly essential to control user’s system remotely – to monitor its screen view, to observe what window is opened at the moment. And without doubt, it should be performed as real-time process. Furthermore, it would be nice to establish network messaging, logging, user restrictions etc. As you already noticed the list of “ideal” software features could be prolonged and obviously there is no a program to match exactly to this list of user’s demands. But! The “but!” always exists. There is a program that came extremely close to the list of demands to be called nearly “ideal”. Oops! The program is named Internet Deadbolt 6.0 It is very likely that developers of Deadbolt tool took into account wishes of many network administrators and their own ones so the software appeared to be convenient and powerful. Internet Deadbolt in particular What does in particular make the program attractive? Well, it is designed to be split tandem such as client-server system. The program architecture contains two basic parts – client unit and server unit. It allows administrator to realize a network monitoring structure with client engine on user’s computers and server engine on administrator’s workstation. Client engine Client engine if installed on user’s system lets be managed right away if server unit is already adjusted. I’d like to note that there is no need to install the client engine on user’s computer personally by administrator – there is a possibility to install it remotely. Just imagine what could happen if there was no such feature, especially if the network served by administrator is large and spread enough to make him go out of his mind installing the client engine manually. Deadbolt has in-built “remotely prevent uninstall” so the client unit is protected from user’s disabling. Moreover, client engine auto-disables Task Manager, RegEdit and MsConfig when running. To prevent some misunderstandings the client unit lets user know beforehand about auto-disabling and will renew Windows functions mentioned above after Deadbolt shut down. So don’t worry about complete control under the network. No one can stop it without administrator’s permission. In addition Deadbolt disables outside web browsers so only Internet Explorer can be launched. The notification for user will be displayed as well. In the beginning of working in the web environment user is proposed to define URL which he or she intend to use. Ones installed the client engine allows user to ask administrator for URL or IP approving. If it is approved it is going to personal user’s URL list. Server engine As for administrator’s unit – it contains a plenty of options and useful functions. In the first launching it proposes to set a login and password to current administrator. The server engine supports multiple server administrator accounts hence profiles. In brief, the server engine operates all actions mentioned above in the “perfect monitor system” and even much more. It supports control each client engine, real-time viewing desired user’s activity, active window, real-time interaction and so on. Besides, it supports MS-SQL, Oracle and MySQL databases; TCP, directory, internal and external drives and even USB ports blocking by profile; network alerts and events logging, getting system information, remote Internet Explorer configuring and many others. Who can find Internet Deadbolt useful? Of course, Internet Deadbolt is professional network-oriented software so corporative organizations, educational establishments or research institutions can find it helpful. One of the distinctive features of Internet Deadbolt is the URL approving solution. It is built on the principle of “approved only” URL or a range of IPs. The difference between “approved only” and “any, excluding prohibited” makes Internet Deadbolt useful for establishments with narrow interests such as offices (where free web surfing is undesirable), laboratories, universities, libraries, archives etc. Related Links:
