Out of the great variety of services provided on the Internet nowdays, one is getting more and more popular: media broadcasting. A lot of the Internet radio stations, that transmit music, news, reality shows, etc., give you one more way to receive information and entertain yourself at your free time. You can listen to them either with the help of the wide-spread media players or via the broadcasting stations’ in-built players. Sometimes you may need to record a piece of a radio program, a song, a part of a show, etc. Some would like to make a collection of records of their favorite broadcasting station. You can do all these things (and even more) with the help of iRadio.

IRadio gives you a possibility not only to listen to the music but to record the programs of different radio stations as well. You can make a collection of records in mp3 format with the help of it. iRadio can group the records according to their home radio stations and titles, and also can group them in the chronological order. You can then burn your collection to a CD with the help of iRadio and listen to it in your car, at your job site, at home.

Before you start recording and listening to the Internet radio stations, you have to locate the radio station by its URL. You can do it in many different ways: you may either directly use the in-built search engine of iRadio or choose one of the URLs given it the Radio list. Besides it, you may use the Internet search services. Here are some of the well-known Internet radio search servers: http://www.shoutcast.com , http://www.live365.com , http://www.radio-locator.com/ , http://www.web-radio.fm/. Also, there are a lot of local search systems that can help you find Internet radio stations in your country.

To add the radio station’s URL from the search site or from the site of your favorite radio station you just have to mouse-click the link named “Listen to the radio” or something like that, which makes iRadio start and lets you listen to the chosen URL. Sometimes radio stations let you select the sound quality, which depends on the connection speed and may be equal either to 24 kbit/s, 32 kbit/s, 48 kbit/s, kbit/s, 128 kbit/s or higher. Your Internet connection speed should be higher then the radio stream speed. If the search site or the site of the radio station lets you choose the way to listen to the radio – either through the internal player or through an external program – select the external option, for only in this case iRadio would be able to trap the URL and start performing the chosen radio station. For example, live365.com allows the user to choose between the internal player, live365 player and an external program. For iRadio to receive the URL from live365.com always choose an external program option.
iRadio starts performing an URL as soon as you add it to the program. You can customize the program’s behavior by choosing one of the default actions in the iRadio settings. You can add an URL in one of the following ways:

  • through the main menu’s options Operation | Add Location
  • with the help of the in-built Search service Operation | Add Results to list
  • by loading a playlist of URL radio stations or an iRadio playlist
  • by clicking a link on the radio station’s site

You can schedule any URL for recording and/or performing. iRadio also supports scheduling a task on a certain date/time or on a regular basis. If you know the schedule of a certain internet radio you can record its programs with the help of iRadio in an automatic mode.

iRadio’s library can show you all the records you’ve made with the help of iRadio, group them by radio stations, names and chronological order. You can burn an audio CD and then perform it in a regular CD player, in a car, at home.
iRadio dramatically widen the abilities of the users of popular Internet broadcasting services. It combines many outstanding capabilities that include:

  • a player that supports many audio stream formats
  • a recorder to record a radio program you like
  • a search engine to help you find your favorite radio stations by music style, quality and popularity
  • a media library to store your records (you can also burn an audio CD or an mp3 CD here)
  • a task scheduler to record radio programs according to the schedule

All these features make iRadio a powerful media center and a true friend of an Internet user.
